La Finca De Susana: Fancy but inexpensive
It's often hard to find a restaurant that looks fancy (white table cloths, proper cutlery, waiters in bow-ties, candles) and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Fine-dining is a luxury that everyone should be able to enjoy, and not just occasionally.
That's where restaurant La Finca De Susana in Madrid scores the number one position. The name translates to "Susana's Yard", but more than that, I really don't understand the logic behind the name.
Located right in the city centre by Sol on C/Arlaban, 4 -- the place is great for a 3-course meal and some alcohol without worrying about your pocket.
The food is not fantastic, but nothing to complain about either. It has a vast menu including both Spanish and international food types, and slow but good service. Lots of simple and great desserts to choose from as well, so no matter who you go with, food/dessert choice will not be an issue.
Just one downside, you can't make a reservation. You have to turn up and see if you get a table; the place is always full, especially for dinner, and since Spaniards are never in a hurry to get anywhere, your wait could be anywhere from 20mins to an hour.
You can eat a 3-course meal here for €15, pretty damn reasonable. Oh, and keep your eyes open, you will often see local celebrities enjoy food here!
