No. 2: Himali – Nepalese Eats
Ever had Nepalese food? If not I will tell you that it is a lot like Indian food. Curries, Samosas, Naan bread and delicious sauces are all part of the Himali menu. This restaurant, while popular, is hidden so it’s best to get directions and/or go early.
Barcelona is infamous for having awful service. Mostly this bad service comes in the form of being overcharged (some would argue intentionally) and rude wait staff. Those who endure and dine in Barcelona are forced to accept bad service and weather it like a hilltop tree in the wind, constantly being battered and hardened by the elements which are sneering waiters, rolling their eyes and spilling your drinks. Okay, so I’m jaded. Anyone who stays in Barcelona more than a week will see what I mean….or maybe not if they eat at Himali every day.
At Himali, the waiters are chatty and helpful. They want to take your order and bring you more wine. Surprisingly, at Himali the customer is not the wretched burden pulling the waitress away from her cell phone, but a treasured guest. They’re accommodating and efficient which is quite enough to keep me coming back for more even if they were only serving slug-sandwiches. Luckily for those who can locate Himali, the food is also good, making it a real winner.
